Free Initial Consultation
You meet with your tax preparer to learn more about QW Tax Prep’s service model to determine if it’s right for you.

Digital Onboarding
You follow a guided process to provide all necessary information to QW Tax Prep in a secure fashion.

Tax Preparation
QW Tax Prep preares your tax return based on the information provided. We’ll reach out to you if there are any questions or if we need more information.

Review & Approval
QW Tax Prep holds an online meeting with you to review your tax return. Once you have approved the return, we’ll send you a request to provide an eSignature for your tax return and your return will be filed. A copy of the return will be stored on your online client portal.

Form 1040 Individual Tax Return only - QW Tax Prep does not prepare business returns
Clients who are comfortable working remotely with a tax preparer using online tools. Note: QW Tax Preparation conducts all meetings over Zoom and does not offer in-person meetings.
High-net-worth retirees
People who receive stock compensation from their employer
High-earning households
Solo practitioners with no W-2 employees
Note: For the 2025 Tax Year, QW Tax Prep is only supporting clients whose primary tax residence is in one of the following states:
Maryland
District of Columbia
Virginia
Washington State
Any state that does not have an income tax (e.g., Texas, Florida)
Additional states will be supported in future years
Tax Preparation Fees
The minimum fee is $650 for single-member households and $750 for couples households. This fee covers one federal filing, one state filing, up to two W-2s for each member of the household plus up to 6 Form 1099s for the household.
As part of the initial consultation, you will provide more detail on your income sources and other tax-related situations
Based on information gathered during the initial consultation, you will be provided a firm quote
Situations such as the below scenarios will result in a higher quoted fee than the minimum fees stated above. Some of the situations that will result in a higher quoted fee include the following (note: this is not a comprehensive list):
More than 6 Form 1099s
Schedule C income (self-employed income)
Form 1099-D filings (capital gains and losses) that have a large number of sales and purchases due to high-frequency trading
Schedule E income (rental real estate and partnership income)
Form 1096 / Form 1099-NEC filings for solo practitioners
Solo Practitioner S-Corp tax status
One or more Schedule K-1 filings (with additional fees for Schedule K-2 and K-3 filings)
Extensive number of charitable contributions or any non-cash charitable contributions
Schedule H - Household Employment Tax
Form 709 - Gift Tax and Generation-Skipping Transfer Tax Return
More than one state income tax return
Form 4797 - Sales of Business Property
Dependent child Form 1040 filings (these can be added on for an additional fee as long as they are relatively straightforward)
Responses to a CP-2000 notice from the IRS will entail additional fees
These fees do not include audit representation services
